Town of the south east of Mallorca, Muro has an extention of 55km² and a population of approximatively 8000 inhabitants. The name of Muro appear for the first time in the book of repartition of Mallorca. It’s about a moz-arabic Word, derived from the latin muru "mur", murada, that keeps the latin "u" at the end of the Word, the appearance of Muro seen from the Alcudia bay makes that interpretation even stronger.

one of the places of extraction very singular is where the "Plaza de toros" is raised. Its prehistoric and old history are documented in 51 arqueologic area. From the pre-talayotic is conserved lot of gaps ancientely used as shelters. From the Talayotic, stands many isolated "talayotes". From the Romanic period there is still some ruins & artefacts, like coins and sepultures. During the Islamic domination, it was attach to Jusz de Muruh. Jaime I conquest the totality of the land without difficulties. In Mallorca’s book of repartition, it’s given the concetion of those lands to PONÇ HUG.
